NUP Deputy President Jolly Jackline Tukamushaba Remanded Until February 24
The National Unity Platform’s Deputy President for Western Uganda, Jolly Jackline Tukamushaba, has been remanded to prison until February 24, 2026, after being charged with incitement to violence amid rising political tensions in the region.

The Deputy President of the National Unity Platform (NUP) for the Western Region, Jolly Jackline Tukamushaba, appeared in court on Thursday and was remanded to prison until February 24, 2026, following charges of inciting violence.

Tukamushaba, who had been reported missing by party members, was confirmed to have been in custody after her court appearance, resolving earlier uncertainty about her whereabouts.

According to the charge sheet, she is accused of contravening Section 79(1) of the Penal Code Act, Cap 128, by allegedly inciting members of the public to commit acts of violence between December 2025 and January 2026.

The prosecution alleges that she encouraged such actions at various locations in Western Uganda, including Rukiga, Kabale, and Rukungiri districts.
